Umango 21 SQL Server Upsizing

Important note: This article is not applicable to versions 23 or later.

Where large volumes of document processing is expected or more than a couple of client workstations are being used, it is recommended that the Umango database be upsized to SQL Server.

Note: If using the "Integrated Security" option in your connection string, make sure the Umango Windows Service Logon Account has the necessary permissions configured to read/write the new database.

To complete this upsizing, follow the steps below.

Note: the steps below assume that an instance of SQL Server is installed and ready for use.

  1. Complete the Umango installation and licensing described above.
  2. Stop the Umango Windows service (UmangoService).
  3. From the server, run the Umango upsizing wizard (UmangoUpsize.exe) which is found in the Umango programs directory.
  4. In most instances, the default settings can be used but where necessary the data paths, database names and connection string can be changed if necessary.
  5. Once the wizard is complete, you will need to ensure that the security permissions on the newly created database will allow read/write access for the Umango service logon account that will be accessing Umango.
  6. The Umango upsizing wizard will have created a registry entry for the database connection string on the Umango Server called "DBConnection". This is found in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Umango.
  7. Restart the Umango Windows service on the server.
  8. Your database upsize is complete.
